While so many companies have been in pursuit of a safer alternative to sterilizing endoscopes, one might ask: why sterilize them at all? Use and discard is an alternative that precludes all of the problems associated with sterilization: harsh chemicals, inexperienced technicians, labor shortages, hospital space, the cost of sterilization equipment, insurance premiums and more. An endoscope that produces superior image resolution can make the endoscopic surgery shorter and thus more efficient. With enhanced images, the accuracy AI algorithms will be dramatically improved.
